Project YES (Youth Envisioning Social Change) is hosting the Be the Change SeLebration on Saturday April 12 from 10:00 am- 4:00pm. This annual community volunteer day will offer lunch-time refreshments, and will be based at the Project YES Youth Center at 805 Excalibur in Lafayette.

This is a FREE event focused on community building, the arts and social change in unison with thousands of other youth and adult volunteers around the world coming together for Youth Service America’s (www.ysa.org) annual Global Youth Service Day (www.gysd.org).

The Lafayette-based volunteer projects planned this year include installing gardens, painting murals, neighborhood clean-up, refurbishing the Project YES youth center, IT projects, installing a gate and a filmed dance performance as part of the “We’re all connected” Flash Mob (learn more at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjsToulLcvM) . Volunteers of all ages are welcome, though youth under 9 must be with an adult. Volunteers should bring a water bottle, work gloves, and come wearing work clothes. If you have additional project ideas or tools that you’d like to donate, please email Lotus Thomas at [email protected] or call 720.984.2827 before April 11.
